I joined Forward Thinking Fitness one year ago. My last baby was approaching his first birthday, and my “baby weight” was now just “weight.” I was embarrassed to have my picture taken or wear anything that exposed any part of my body. I was fed up with the way I looked and felt, and I was tired of feeling helpless to control my ever-increasing weight and clothing size. My neighbor told me about FTF and how much he loved it, so I decided to give it a shot. I didn’t have high expectations since I was never one for going to the gym and working out, but I was willing to try anything!
The first couple of weeks were hard…really hard. I had to really come to terms with how out of shape I had let myself become, but it just made me that much more determined to improve. After a few weeks, I found I could keep up better and be less sore. Most importantly, I was starting to see results! After 2 months, I had lost 8lbs of fat and gained 3lbs of muscle. I had more energy and actually started looking forward to working out. Every time someone made a comment that I looked good, or looked like I lost weight, I felt a little extra boost in my motivation.
It's now one year later, and I can honestly say coming to FTF has changed my life. I’ve lost 20lbs overall, and my body fat has decreased by 12%! I’m healthier and stronger, I have so much more energy, and I like my body again! I’m not ashamed to wear shorts or tank tops or to get my picture taken. I am so grateful for Evan, Ryan, Amber, and Payton for making me “push the pace” every day and helping me improve week after week. I know my journey is just getting started, and I’m so happy to have found my fitness family at FTF!

I joined FTF in February and I couldn't be happier here! In FTF, I have found a fitness facility where I feel welcome, where I feel motivated, where I feel supported, where I feel like I'm held accountable, and where I feel like I get a fantastic workout. Not only do Evan and John demonstrate the exercises, they tell you what part of your body it's working, where you should be feeling it, and what the proper form is. They also work hard to make everyone feel welcome and make it a positive atmosphere. I have never experienced anything like it ... and I have never looked forward to going to the gym more. And it's because of Evan, the clients there, the atmosphere, and the progress I've seen since joining. FTF has a positive, upbeat, friendly, family-like vibe to it. We work hard, but we also laugh a lot. It's a facility like no other and I'm thrilled I joined!
I was never a big "gym goer" before simply because I don't really like working out in front of people. Going to FTF was not like going to any other gym I have been to before. ALL of the trainers and clients are so friendly, helpful and made you feel welcome right when you walk in. Everyone was just having fun and it made me feel comfortable working out because everyone else was doing the same thing I was. In the beginning of class the trainers go over each and every exercise you will be doing and where/what you are supposed to feel and how to do it the right way without hurting yourself. They corrected you throughout the class as well. Being here for about 4 months now, I feel motivated to keep working out, I feel accountable because you have to schedule your classes out, and I actually look forward to going to class because I do have fun with everyone who goes there. I was never a person that enjoyed working out before coming to FTF. I was never able to stick with any program, and would ALWAYS find an excuse not to go to the gym. Since joining FTF, I have become healthier and stronger than I've been in a long time! The structure and the motivation that Evan and Shannon provide are exactly what I need, and now I look forward to going to the classes, and hate when I'm not able to make it. The environment at FTF is not your typical gym - the trainers push you, but encourage you at the same time. And the clients all encourage eachother! You never feel like you're going it alone. I will never go back to a regular old gym again - FTF has truly changed my life!!
I am 47 years old and am in the best shape of my life thanks to the help of the trainers at FTF. While I have been doing cardio for a few years, I was never big into using weights. Adding weights to my fitness program has allowed me to see results I have never seen before. The trainers are very knowledgeable and help push you while making sure all of the moves are safe. I just love my personal training sessions as well as the classes that are offered. These classes are unlike anything you see in a typical gym. They allow each person to work at his/her own pace using appropriate weights for each individual. During class, trainers help make sure you are using correct form for each exercise. The clients that go to FTF are so friendly and everyone works as a team. Everyone cheers and motivates you to work hard. I have been taking classes and doing personal training since FTF has opened and it was the best decision I have made in my fitness journey.
Dropped in for a team workout this morning and was very impressed. Great facility, knowledgeable staff, and motivating atmosphere. Team workout was very scale-able; our class had everything from the fitness novice to the experienced athlete and the workout was satisfyingly challenging for all. The owner and trainers were actively engaged the entire workout making sure everyone was using proper technique and not slacking! Highly recommend - the valley is lucky to have such a great boutique functional fitness studio.

All my life, I was pretty active with sports: cheerleading and swim team. Needless to say I was in pretty good shape. It was until I went to grad school, when I became very inactive. I ate poorly and my stress level was through the roof. Stress, poor eating habits, and not exercising is recipe for weight gain. One day, I looked at myself and was absolutely disgusted. I was no longer this tiny girl that I was throughout high school and college. I didn’t even recognize the person i was looking at in the mirror. This is a great fitness center. Not your typical gym! I love the classes, you won't get a better workout. The trainers are very knowledgeable and the small team training sessions are an excellent way to get one-on-one instruction without the personal trainer price tag! At the team trainings sessions I have taken both the Burn class and the Modern Strength class and would highly recommend them to anyone and any fitness level. Everyone that comes in is supportive and friendly, if you're on your own you don't feel like you're out of place. Love this place!

I definitely recommend Evan (& John) as your trainers. They are truly motivating and believe in what they do. Evan introduced me to Tabata, which I never thought I could do. Two years later and I still love it! They push you to your personal max and always make the workouts fun!

Evan is by far, one of the best trainers that I have worked with. He is professional, kind, and motivating! And, not every trainer out there has a degree in the exercise field! Evan has a better knowledge base than most and is able to explain things in a way that makes sense and makes you want to learn more! He is great at creating individualized workouts that are fun, challenging, and maximize results!!:)
I had the opportunity to work with both Evan and John for about six months. They helped me lose over 50 pounds and work towards my goal of running my first half marathon. I love how they explain the "why" behind the exercise, giving purpose to what you are doing. Evan and John both push you to increase your performance level and always make working out fun. Additionally, they are able to motivate you to accomplish anything! I completed my first half marathon in April, and it was because they helped lay the foundation for success!
Evan is the first personal trainer I’ve worked with and I couldn’t be happier with the results so far! He will develop a workout routine specific to your fitness level and goals. He is tremendously professional and accommodating and only wants the best for his clients. He listens and is very motivating. He pushes me passed my limits to a fitness level I never thought I could achieve. Evan is also very intelligent and has significantly more knowledge then most trainers. Having some hip and back issues, he has shown me exercises and stretches to correct my form and posture and strengthen those areas of weakness. He has introduced me to Tabata and what a workout! I would recommend Evan to anyone trying to figure out how to go about losing weight and getting fit. You won’t regret it!
I've had the pleasure of working in private sessions with Evan during my summer and Christmas breaks for over a year now. All the sessions are driven by his passion and enthusiasm for fitness. Evan is extremely professional, accommodating and encourages you to push to a limit that you may not have known you had (in a good way, of course!) His workouts are never the same 'ole boring routines. It is evident that Evan truly cares for his clients' success and health, which makes for one of the best personal trainers.
Oh, and his Tabata workouts are the best - you leave the gym feeling so good about yourself both emotionally and physically!

I began working with Evan after being discharged from physical therapy for frozen shoulder. Evan was able to give me exercises both with machines and without to continue to strengthen the shoulder muscles. He firmly believes in a whole body approach to fitness so we worked on abs and legs, too. Often he would show me a new exercise and I would not believe I could do it, but he knew my abilities better than I did. Evan was always there to encourage me. He pushed me to do things I never thought I’d be able to do. Tabata is one of them. Many of the exercises we do in tabata are a bit beyond my physical ability, but Evan is always willing to show me an alternate exercise that uses the same muscle group as the more difficult exercise being done by the rest of the group. One thing I like is Evan will explain the muscle group being targeted by an exercise. Some trainers do the workout with you but then they can’t see your moves to be able to make the appropriate corrections as Evan does.
Evan (and John) are awesome motivators and really get you to work out at the highest level you are capable of. I've taken fit camps with both of them and the results speak for themselves. Not only do they push you to perform to the best of your abilities but I've always seen them give alternative exercises for beginners. They always have the most popular classes because they make working out fun. They also are never in a huge hurry to take off after class so you can talk to them about what's working or not working with your diet and exercise routine. I've never personally had 1 on 1 training but several friends of mine have said they will never work with another trainer after working with Evan. They are great trainers and great people to be around and I can't recommend them enough.
Personal training with Evan has been superb! Evan hit me with an intense 8AM leg blast that I won't forget. I'm an experienced lifter and he was still able to introduce new ways of training to help me grow. On more than one occasion he corrected my form to ensure maximum growth and safety. Evan goes into a session prepared but can also adjust to the person or workout easily, which makes him an excellent trainer. He's focused and cares about you. I highly recommend Evan to any person looking for direction and results.
